52 Years Ago Today's... And Not A Word

Heck, Peter Doggett in You Never Give Me Your Money (about the Beatles' post breakup lives) notes that when John Lennon was murdered, some paranoiacs said that President-elect Reagan ordered it, to keep Lennon from leading a revived counterculture.

Since President-elects can't order anything yet, we know this is bunk. The person who ordered Lennon's murder was none other than Walter Mondale, in retaliation for his and Jimmy Carter's defeat a month earlier. And we all know how evil Vice Presidents can be, right? ;) :D

The JFK assassination won't get much TV or radio attention from now on because there are no more major anniversaries to mark (50 years is usually the last one the media pays attention to) and also just about all of JFK's contemporaries are now gone so there are few if any who knew him who can talk about him in the first person. In the last ten years, and particularly in 2013, there have been dozens of JFK-related programs on the air, many of them using original coverage from 1963 and many of these shows are available on DVD.

It probably is bunk (then again, I'm not a conspiracy nut). I was just citing Doggett's book.
