550 KUZZ Bakersfield, CA

This morning when I turned to 550, nothing from my brothers house

Being outside away from typical interference there is in populated areas and especially indoors can make the difference between receiving and not receiving a weak signal.

Probably why you heard it at the water park and not at your brother's house.

Ground conductivity can make a difference, as can local terrain.

I can drive as little as four miles away and the AM band reception is drastically different, because of the difference in the water table below ground.

When I heard KUZZ at Spalsh Park, I went to 1070 & 640..nothing..

1070 is too high a frequency to have a ground wave that far but I'm wondering if KFI could maybe be heard on a strong receiver there.

What kind of receiver are you using?

I'm wondering if my Sangean PR-D5 could get KFI there.

Sacramento is 361 miles from LA and I was easily able to hear KFI midday at 300 miles when I was visiting California.

But I could not hear KFI at all there in Santa Cruz daytime on my little Sony Walkman.

KUZZ has a 100 mile head start on KFI

And about 50 miles of solid mountains in the way. KUZZ is a straight shot up the valley; It is a relatively consistent signal even beyond Fresno and Stockton, so getting to quiet areas of Sacto is not unusual.
