56 WFIL Record Album

I was at the Grand Opening of the new Savers Consignment Store in Bristol, Connecticut and they had a 56 WFIL Record Album. I didn't have the money so I couldn't buy it and my mom wouldn't buy it for me either. (She said I don't need it because I don't own a record player). The album covered showed a few WFIL double decker buses and a few old school cars. Along with a 56 WFIL logo on it.

Songs on the album included Maggie May - 1st song side one and Magic Carper Ride - 1st Song side 2. There were a handful of other songs that I don't recall.

WFIL had out a number of hits albums in their heyday, as did WIBG. They are very common at the Pennsylvania Music Expo held every 2nd Sunday year round in Lancaster. Info on that is available at www.recordcollectors.org. Cost? generally less than $5.

That WFIL album came out in the winter of 1973-74. I remember buying that at a store called Keller's House of Music in the old
Woodhaven Mall. You can find those albums occasionally on E-bay. I have all but three, but I haven't played them in years. Most of those songs are now downloaded onto my i-pod. I'm surprised that no one bought the rights to the albums and put them on cd's or made them available on i-tunes. The label for those albums was Lost Nite, which faded away in the 1970s. I remember it being a big deal when the albums were released. Another simple pleasure gone away.

I bought the album today. It was 99 cents. It has 3 double decker buses, 2 Mustangs, and a van that says "WFIL Mobile Studio No. 8" on it. There are girls standing on the top of one of the double decker buses that has no roof. And there are girls sitting on the roof of the van and siting on the cars.

The logo shows "56 WFIL" and underneath "ALL HIT MUSIC". It also says "LOST NITE" on it.

Side 1:

Maggie May - Rod Stewart
California Dreamin' - Mamas & Papas
Go Away Little Girl - Donny Osmond
Dancing in the Moonlight - King Harvest
The Candy Man - Sammy Davis Jr.
Hooked on a Feeling - B.J. Thomas
I'd Love You to Want Me - Lobo

Side 2:

Magic Carpet Ride - Steppenwolf
Daydream Believer - Monkees
Why Can't We Live Together - Timmy Thomas
Tracy - Cuff Links
Don't Pull Your Love - Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds
Last Song - Edward Bear
Candida - Dawn

The cardboard album cover is ripped in places, but the record looks to be in good condition except for some dust on it. I don't have a record player, so I can't even give this bad boy a spin. And the club where I DJ at - their turntables have been in the attic collecting dust for the past 15 years.
