560 Columbia drops Teddy Heffner/Carey Rich

Sad day for sports talk fans in the Midlands today. 560 in Columbia, iHeart's sports talk station, dropped the Teddy Heffner morning show and Carey Rich's midday show in favor of Fox Sports programming. Heffner has been on for almost 20 years on Columbia radio.

Matt Barber's show was also dropped.

Looks like 560 has dropped sports completely and went back to WVOC and it's talk format. Fox Sports has moved to 1400

I wonder why the move? Why simulcast the Rush-Hannity-Beck line up on 560 as well as 100.1? The FM did not switch to Christmas programming. So I suppose iHeart intends to keep the two stations simulcasting.

100.1 is only 6000 watts at 330 feet. Were listeners more than 30 miles from Columbia were having trouble getting their Limbaugh fix?

That would be my view.

WBT would probably be sufficient going north, and I'm sure Augusta has him. WYRD-FM used to be in Newberry so I assume the signal reaches people in that area.

Florence has Rush on a small FM now, so there could be a problem in that direction. I don't even remember who has him in Charleston.
