580 ESPN Orlando

They want to get as much exposure as they can. An AM/FM simulcast of the game would do it. However, I went to a game late last month and the only kind of promotion for ESPN 580 was the pop up tent beside the arena. Inside all I saw was ad's for 96.5 and no 580. Even after the game the PA announcer said to listen to the post game show on News Talk 96.5 WDBO. I don't know how hard it is to change the copy to include ESPN 580 also. They want to get the word out about Orlandos fourth sports station, what better way to promote it then at the game.
 
I can understand why they would want it on the FM for signal, exposure, and clarity; although 580 is very powerful! It just would seem having Magic games on a sports station be more appropriate for the format; what a better promotional tool too. Oh well, what do I know.

I don't want to stray too much from the topic, but I know for me, I get upset when my favorite talk show gets interrupted for something like sports programming. Are these feelings widely shared by listeners?
 
Once a contract is signed with a team, the broadcaster can't just move it to another station. It's up to the team. Maybe the Magic don't want the image of being on AM, maybe both parties decided to wait until next season, or maybe 580 has something down the road that will be a conflict with the Magic, like Rays baseball.
 
I am in Islamorada, Florida in the Keys for 2 months and I can get 580 almost every night, sometimes better than WQAM or WIOD. There is no sign of 540 at all.
