590 AM ?

Keep seeing Metro transit ads for "590 AM Life Talk radio with Dr Laura".
What the heck is that all about?

Who is 590 AM (KQNT-AM?) and how could they possibly have a listenable signal around here on 2nd adjacent to KVI?

Is it a Spokane bus that's very lost?

The people who put the ads on the Metro buses probably screwed up somewhere. Either that or Clear Channel really thinks they can put a listenable AM signal into Seattle all the way from Spokane. I've heard 590 at night sometimes while scanning the AM dial a few times (and that's with KVI's transmitter almost directly across the water from where i'm at), but never during the day.

Somewhat related... I was at the Westfield Capital Mall in Olympia one time, and they had ads up inside the mall for some FOX shows, with the logo for KTVU FOX 2 San Francisco in the corner of the ad, instead of Q13 FOX. ???

I saw it too and after it was out of eye-shot, I figured I must have just mis-read it -- it has to be 1590 because 590 clearly wouldn't work. But that's interesting that someone else also saw it as 590. It was either a mistake or a very poor design that allowed the "1" to be obscured.

Saw that too. Tried in vain to tune in. If it's a mistake, that's the funniest bus board mistake I've ever seen. Maybe it's some stunt, or research project.

1590-AM KLFE Brings ``The Dr. Laura Program'' to Seattle's Airwaves

SEATTLE, Mar 30, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Salem Communications, the leading U.S. radio broadcaster, Internet content provider and magazine publisher targeting audiences interested in Christian and family themes, today announced that Dr. Laura Schlessinger's talk show program will premiere on 1590-AM KLFE in Seattle on April 3. The show will air live from noon until 3 p.m. weekdays.

I just saw one of the Busboards. The centers of the Call letters and most of the dial numbers white are on a green(?) (I'm colorblind) sqaure. Most, if not all of the number "1" is off the square, and on the white background. I can see how it would be easy to miss at a quick glance.

Heh, somebody blacked out one of Dr. L's teeth, and added a mustache.

That's bizarre because the busboard that I saw said "590"...unless it was intentionally whited/blacked out or something. I even tuned into 590 thinking, "what the..." but it was just static. 1590 makes much more sense, but I KNOW I didn't see 1590. :-\

I saw the 1590 busboard as well and the 590 was in a colored background box that was easy to read and the 1 was outside that box and difficult to read. It amazes me how some stations will spend a ton of money on these things and not make sure everything is detailed and "eye friendly" for the people that get a quick glimpse as the bus drives by. Another example is the Adam Carolla busboards...the color scheme makes it near impossible to read the text on a sunny day(granted not many of those here in Seattle) but my point being is that unless you know he is already on the End, you have no idea what he or the station is trying to promote. Another is Jackie and Bender's busboard. "Wake Up With Jackie and Bender" but it doesn't include the time the show is on. So I happen to roll out of bed at 10:30 each morning since school's out, does that mean I can still be lucky enough to "Wake Up With Jackie and Bender"?

KQNT doesn't even put great signal into full Spokane market.

Back when KQNT was KHQ AM and had thier stick on the south hill. Great signal. Today with thier current stick set up - its a pale comparison.

My home stereos/clock radios barely recieve it. I get KSBN 10X better (a class C!), and I'm on the south hill!
