60 Hz hum issue

I was scanning the dial for DX, and the radio stopped on 92.1. I am hearing an overmodulated 60 hz hum plus harmonics on 92.1. It will not go away no matter where I am in the house, but it gets stronger as I go towards the front door. It is bleeding all the way from 91.7 through 92.5. I don't hear this anywhere else on the FM band. What could be causing this problem and how do I get rid of it?<P ID="signature">______________

It could be from a Light Dimmer, computer, microwave oven, or TV...if you have any of those, turn them off and see if it goes away

It sounds like a station, not your radio. There is nothing you can do except report the over modulation on 92.1 to the FCC.

I had that on 93.3 here in Rockford... Then someone pointed out it was an LPFM with bad engineering.

There is no station on 92.1 here. I found out that the hum originated from the doorbell since that recently stopped working. I turned off its breaker and the hum stopped. Now, I need to get the doorbell fixed.<P ID="signature">______________

I wouldn't be surprised if you had wide-band hash being
radiated from that doorbell transformer; last spring I
tracked one of those to a 6 houses away that had begun
to generate noise - turns out those transformers have a
thermal breaker in them that ages (after +25 years), begins
to open, and in the process will 'arc' for days and days
before successfully opening all the way and succeed
in maybe finally 'opening' the circuit.

I'm surprised you didn't find it affecting other bands, like
the TV VHF Low-band CHs (2-6).
