60 Seconds with John DePetro, 60 seconds too much

After the joyous removal of Lieberman - someone who didn't fight for the Vice Presidency that he won, I was hoping to hear RKO give us some good political talk. Nope - John DePetro was as sarcastic, smarmy and divisive as ever. It was a repugnant listen as he towed the Bush line. Doesn't Jason Wolfe get it? This is a Blue State. Instant switch back to Stephanie Miller - even the dreadful Boston's Progressive Talk commercials were better than propaganda.

Is WRKO happy to just play to their niche audience of sheep? There's a much, much bigger audience out there and they don't want to hear this stuff from the lips of Joe Lieberman:

The People have spoken in Connecticut. C'mon, WRKO, give us something to listen to 9 AM - noon.

Smarmy is the best description of one of "The Boys" from Rhod Diland.
Que the love theme from The G-father.

another crybaby "I wanna be in radio, I had great ratings on Sunday" valvuren post
STOP LISTENTING, according to the recent ratings you are in the minority

BostonRose is a Karl Rove you-know-what-Blossom wannabe!
Trying to make a silk purse out of DePetro's ear!

According to the ratings, he isn't.

Comparing RKO, a heritage station with deep roots in the market to AirAmerica's two local signals is lunacy.

Howzabout comparing WRKO, circa now, WRKO, circa 2002?

From a 6.0 to a 3.8.

You lose 36% of your audience in 4 years and that's good?

And what a wonderful demo is it, the average listener (according to the Globe piece on Mr. Wolfe) is 61 years old.

Face a few facts: If Severin were still on in PMD, RKO would be hovering near a 3.0. From 5:30AM to Noon, you have pedestrian hackery segueing into the most tired act on radio. Were it not for Howie, RKO would be at a 2.0, period.

It has nothing to do with left vs right--it has to do with "predictable" (DePetro is more reliably didactic than death or taxes) vs. ''enlightening".

A second-rate Hannity clone with a Providence drawl is about as appealing to greater Boston as a statue of Derek Jeter in the middle of Copley Square.

to quote Opie and Anthony:
"IS HE..IS HE REALLY?"

thanks for listening......

Don't primaries tend to bring out only the party faithful and the extreme wings of each party? (though I have heard some unenrolled voters turned out for Lamont--Fred Sanford's son?)...and then in the general election candidates have to "move to the center". Who knows...Lieberman could still win as an Independent. Had the election taken place after the latest terrorist scare it's possible he could have pulled it out. It's tough to say whether Conn. is blue state or not. Most likely it is, but gov. is a Republican...

Democrats are welcome to nominate their most liberal candidates for President, who will then lose in the general election when the South and the "flyover states" choose the more conservative candidate. C'mon now, GOP, can't you fix the voting machines here in Mass. so there are at least one or two Republican
representatives? You helped put Bush in office twice, and you can't get _one_ Republican congressman
in this state? :)

Joe listened to the entire show. He listens to every show on WRKO, everyday....when he's not doing important music journalism.

LOL That is the funniest thing I have ever heard. I had a letter published in People Magazine once; I guess that means that I can claim to be availble in libraries around the Globe!!!!

If you do borrow the books, you'll probably enjoy my reviews and biographies of Country artists the best, Boston Rose!, though there isn't much country in Rhode Island...
