Several big AM stations in Canada have SW simulcasts, including CFRB Toronto and CKNW Vancouver. I believe an AM station in St. John's Newfoundland had one I heard maybe 30 years ago.
I suppose they're aimed at listeners in remote Northern Canada who don't have much to listen to locally. Although with the internet, their continuation these days is in doubt. I'm not sure how it profits CFRB to be heard in the Arctic on SW. I'm sure it isn't cheap to run a SW simulcast. I wonder if they do it from their own AM tower or do they maintain a seperate facility?
