keeps trying to do talk. It's ratings are
lower than KAAM. Why don't they do a
format change to something that will actually

I used to work for Salem, I don't think that K-SKY is hurting for revenue. They have these talk stations all over the country. Salem is not worried about ratings. K-SKY offers a little different typ of talk that the other stations don't offer. It has worked well in other markets. They have weekend shows that pay a lot of the bills. There are stations that need a format change orse than K-SKY. Can you say the BONE!!!, or KAAM who is about to loose their..............

They have a great daytime signal, but hey, after 3 or so years of failing with the current lineup, how about bringing in some new hosts? Then again, would it matter? Maybe the dial position is cursed, like KLIF's?

The lineup, save Dennis Miller, is nothing to write home about....KSKY is one of those stations that has had an interesting history pre-salem. I mean, this was the station that the stars of stage and screen came to when they were in Dallas. That all went down the toliet when Salem bought em in the 1960's and it has been a long ride down since. Conservative talk in alot of ways is a over-flowing pool these days, too many people and not enough water. Besides, people as a whole are getting tired of alot of these 3rd rate pundits spouting their right-wing garbage on a daily basis.

Unless they owned it for a brief time before 1981, Salem took over the station in 2000 in a swap of KSKY for a station in Colorado Springs. It did religion for a number of years and under owners you wouldn't necessarily expect to do religion, like Broadcasting Partners, Evergreen Media, Chancellor and Clear Channel. I believe Salem moved most of the talk programming on the religious format to KWRD-FM while Mortenson picked up the music on KKGM 1630.

I'm guessing that the Salem FM Christian station subsidizes KSKY's operation. Would it surprise anybody if KSKY was making more money before it flipped to talk--when it charged by the hour for preachers to play their sermon tapes?

IMHO I find Ingraham and Hewitt reasonable entertaining, Dennis Miller deserves a better clearance. They could easily send Gallagher, Prager and Medved packing (they're the "whine and cheese contingent"). The whole purpose of the station is to clear national avails. Whatever local ads they get weekdays is just icing on the cake.

Kent, forgive me on that error with salem, I got it from the wikipedia, guessing that was wrong...but, nevertheless, they've wasted away this frequency for years...

317, Im in agreement as well on Gallagher, Prager and Medved. The first two have always been nuts, medved needs to just go back and review movies fulltime...
