68.4 Shop TV?

Saw this channel mentioned on AVS and checked it out last night. From the title it sounds like a shopping network, but last night it was just a simulcast of 68.3 Ion Life.

Wondering if KPXD is overtaking the plumbing a bit too much. They had 68.4 before when it was Worship, but since then they've added a M/H simulcast of Qubo and of course all the Airbox stuff.

They rolled out the same in Phoenix, making room for the extra open subchannel by cutting out two Airbox channels. I'm guessing that's what's up in Dallas as well. Anybody from Houston have info? That's the only market I know of where Ion has actually offered the Airbox service to the public.

Nothing in Houston, as of 12-28-12. No 49.4...yet, on the OTA box.

Would someone explain what the extra airbox channels are for? I always thought it was something wrong with my tv.

Airbox is an over-the-air subscription service mainly targeted at Spanish-speakers. They offer CineMexicano, GolTV, Pasiones, TeleFórmula, Sorpresa and NFL Network (in English) as their base package for $10/month. Starz (in English and Spanish) is an available add-on for $10/month more, and pay-per-view events and NFL Red Zone are broadcast as well. The stations are broadcast in encrypted MPEG-4 streams.

Anyone else think Airbox is an enormous waste? Seems like they haven't promoted themselves well at all. I can't imagine they have more than a handful of people subscribing to their service. Am I just missing the ads? I sure can't access their website.

Ion has added .4 in Oklahoma City (channel 62.4, RF 50) also. Same story as here: a simulcast of .3 titled Shop TV. (Don't know if OKC has Airbox.)

And as of yesterday, Shop TV is indeed shopping. I guess DFW acquired too much actual programming with Cozi, Punch TV, and the return of TheCoolTV, so we had to get more religion (Almavision) and videospam (Shop TV) to keep the ratio close to 50/50 ::)
