In Charlotte,NC this week have been getting strong dayime mix of WPTF -Raleigh
with WKAZ- Charleston WV.

From south end of Pittsburgh it is generally some mix between WPTF, Raleigh
and WCBM, Baltimore. WISR in Butler, PA is about 40 miles away, but they are
only putting out 50 watts at night. Have never heard them here.

If anything here in central Ohio, it's Raleigh at night. Can't think of anything consistent daytime.

Located in W. WA:

Daytime: KBRD Lacey WA with their mix of 20's through 50's big band & eclectic music.
Nighttime: KNBR San Francisco; and I logged KKGR East Helena MT once, and KOMW, Omak WA once or twice a few years ago.

Monroe, WA

A very weak KBRD Lacey, WA daytime with nostalgic music, including lots of big band stuff.
At sunset I get KBRD + KOMW Omak, WA mixing in.
Night is exclusively KNBR. No other station has been heard during the night here.

In Metro-Atlanta it's 680 WCNN during the Day and 680 WPTF in Raleigh at Night

North of Chicago, getting a mix of stations; mainly WPTF and WCTT, Corbin KY. I really like their format. Wish we had that station in Chicago!

You can't get WCNN in the Atlanta area at night?

The signal is weak to the north, and nearly non-existent to the NE and NW at night. Remember, it protects WPTF and puts nearly no signal towards Raleigh, and it also has a major null towards Memphis. All in all, it's a terrible night signal.

The horrible ground conductivity may also have to do with it.

WNZK has a good grip on SE Michigan at night, not bad at all for 2500w. Much better, in fact, than they are during the day with 2500 w on 690 kHz (yes, you read that right!)

In Tampa daytime, it's the local WGES.

Nighttime, it's a lot weaker and I can null it out to hear what sounds like a mix of many stations.

I've gotten an ID from WMFS and KKYX.

There have been times where there is an ESPN broadcast on and I hear a multiple echo effect.

I always wish that one of the stations could be KNBR which happens to be in the direction of when I null out WGES.

Meanwhile, it owns the channel on a nightly basis at the place where we stay on the beach near Pensacola. Usually with a good signal.

I'll vouch for the lousy signal north of Atlanta. In the '90s when I'd get into town every couple of months on business trips, I'd stay in the "Perimiter" area north of town....where the signal was usually lousy and often getting completely trashed by WPTF.

Here at home northwest of Chicago, splatter from WSCR usually wipes everything out. WCTT "the little blowtorch" is the most likely to break through. Sometimes WPTF. I've also heard CJOB here, but that was a one-off quite a few years ago.

Crainbebo mentioned KBRD from Lacy, WA. Now there's an unusual radio station! Always a highlight for an hour or so whenever I've made the run from Seattle to Portland. "America's ninth best radio station"....or something like that. Who am I to argue?

Man, KBRD is "unusual". Listened to their stream. And I thought the Olympia area was only known for its long-gone beer.

Thanks for mentioning them.

KBRD "K-Bird" is definitely a hoot! As I indicated, it's been something of a ritual for me when I've made the Seattle-Portland run on I-5. Effectively, the 250-watt signal has an effective (comfortably listenable) range of about 35-40 miles in the car. That's fine, because as much as I enjoy it, I can't really take more than about an hour or so. That said, I do have the stream bookmarked on my computers and iPhone.

For those unfamiliar.... If you like music sets including Bessie Smith, Bing Crosby, Hank Williams, Keely Smith, and Al Jolson back to back....this is the station for you!

Personally, I wish there was more "out of the box, off the wall" unique stuff like this out there.

Things have changed since, but I was at the parking lot in the old Atlanta Stadium in 1983, and WCNN (at that time, running audio of Headline News) had something underneath, likely WPTF.

They have gone from 10 to 15 night kW since, but I was kinda amazed they ever got night auth.
