680 the Fan Speculation

So what 680 changes are coming? Chernoff has been touting a big announcement 2:00 on Friday. It is obvious that him and Chuck will be moved to a full 5 days per week and they are adding an hour. Matt said another major announcement was coming next week that he does not know about. Him and Kincade started speculating jokingly about who might be hired Greg Clarkson, Max Howell, Ray Goff. So I assume it is going to revolve around the hiring of additional talent.

My guess is Cowherd is going to go on the Fan 2 only. Chernoff and Oliver are going to move to either 10 - 1 or 12 - 3. "New" talent will be brought in to cover the other 2 hours.

Question is if true who would this talent be? Bob Neal? Matt tewart? Brandon "Hometeam" Leak? Fred Kalil? Ken Rodriguez? Many other markets have used TV sports anchors also for the lunch shift.

Also while probably pure coincidence Belue has been off the air all week. Kincade keeps mentioning he hopes he is back soon. Either he has serious illness or is with out a contract? I know Kincade re-upped but don't recall hearing anything on Belue?

680 smells blood in the water and they could go for the kill with their own all local broadcasting. I listen a lot more during the day outside of AM drive. Chernoff and Oliver will kill Baby Huey and the Snarkmeister on 790 the Zone from 11 - 1. The right hire will also give good ammunition against the Stews for those turned off by the Stews shtick.

As long as Cowherd is dropped and Dimino isn't brought in, I don't care. In a perfect world Cellini could be brought on board somewhere, preferably replacing the unlistenable Lorentino.

I'm afraid I heard Brandon Leak doing some hawks promo on 680 today. Terrified, actually.

The “Fan 2” and “3” give the Dickeys plenty of options. I think moving Cowherd would be a mistake. He is the only radio personality who is truly entertaining and informative every single day. Dimino isn’t coming to 680 that is a joke and just foolish as he is a 790 hardliner.

Oliver and Chernoff’s chemistry is better than anything 790 has. So they will make the new show run for at least three hours for sure. Not sure what it means in this economy, but the Dickey’s invest well in their resources.

Bob Neal would be an interesting fit. He is knowledgeable about college basketball and football along with a good old school radio presence. He is a true broadcaster but not sure if he would be a big draw, but is good nonetheless.

I doubt if its Brandon “Hometeam” Leak, the fan positions itself as the anti-790 and wants no part of having to pitch talent to the urban community although he definitely is not the Stews and doesn’t spew that garbage. He was on V-103 a couple of months ago with Ryan Cameron. They had good chemistry together.

It is interesting that Belue has been off this week. It’s time for talent to get back to work after the holidays so it does seem strange. Belue has obviously been on the air to pander to the UGA fan base. Not sure if he is needed for dawg nation with the ppms to tune in anymore, but 680 has kept him with Kincade over the years to the stations benefit.

Either way the announcements will be another splash for Dickey Broadcasting and the same old tired stale radio at 790 the gone!

Taylor on Radio had an item this morning about Max Howell doing a show out of Chattanooga that would be syndicated around TN, GA, FL, and AL. Due to his history, this would be my guess.

So what was the announcement?

And I'd say Belue is on the air for at least one other reason than he appeals to the UGA base: he's an excellent broadcaster/personality.

True test of a "Excellent" personality is whether he/she could work in any market. I don't think Buck has that at ALL.. he is region specific for sure. And I don't think he's that good...

Did not hear what the announcement was. Buck belue "an excellent broadcaster/personality"?! Don't want to insult Buck or anyone else as this is but that is certainly a matter of opinion-one with which I strongly disagree.

Kincade clearly is the talent with Buck along for the ride on his coat-tails. If he had so much talent he would fill in for Espn’s shows as much as Kincade.

Good pass to Lindsay Scott. But it was Lindsay's run that was great.

Me either, and the 680 website doesn't have anything on it either.

Must not have been much.

There are two announcements. The first of which was made today--Chernoff and Oliver will shift to the noon-3PM time slot Monday-Friday beginning Monday. The second announcement, the one that wasn't obvious, is supposedly coming sometime on Jan. 16.
