7:03 - The New 5:45pm

KFNN has a nifty new web site...plus they've changed their on-air lineup for the New Year. But 15~Ten still can't get the power down at 5:45pm! Monday night Nurse Jeff and I heard the pattern change at 6:28pm, but the power remained the same. (We know 'cause 100 watts goes about as far as the wind blows). The 22kw xmttr was finally powered down at 7:03pm. What In The Wide, Wide World of Sports is a goin' on at the station that claims to crunch numbers better than anyone else?

Is this the most pressing issue of the day???? who in the world is listening to them that late or at all anyways!!!! Really some of you this year need to resolve to reprioritize your life

Woa, pony! Some of us like to DX on AM after dark. You can't do that with FM. There is a reason for reducing power after dark. If we didn't, AM would be like FM, you could only get the strongest stations, and your choices would be limited.

Aren't you the dude that was obsessed with dance music from the rim? Talk about priorities.

I resolve not to listen to rimshots getting 0.4 (or less) in the ArbyTrons.
Not that I ever listened anyway. ;D

Nah, I'd rather stick to complaining about KT'R, KOOL 94.5 songs, the 55/FYI
lunatic, Lumberyard 1440's cold sign-offs, and the two "illegal power alien" AMs.

And speaking of the same songs over and over again, KOOL-FM now has at
least two candidates for the '70s version of Brown Eyed Girl (i.e., overplayed):

Everybody Plays The Fool -The Main Ingredient
Low Rider -War

How many times a day do they have to play these two songs? ::)

Mark: 9 January 2:50-3:00 p.m. Brown Eyed Girl followed by Everybody Plays the Fool. So KOOL should be playing Low Rider any time now! :D

KFNX 1100 Cave Creek must be airing programming of such
extreme importance to its COL and surrounding communities
that they've deemed it imperative to still be on day power
at 8:20 this evening (Sunday).

Oh wait, it's a repeat of Chucky Goyette.

Extreme importance? Nah, it's more like "the GM, PD and CE
look the other way when the board op conveniently forgets
to power down."

Our two illegal power aliens--KFNX 1100 Cave Creek and
KFNN 1510 Mesa--are at it again this (Saturday) evening.

Both have yet to switch to their night power/pattern as of
6:15; this should have been done at 5:45 (during January).

Hey Francis, a college basketball game is not a valid excuse
to "forget" to power down.

And our buddy from Kay-Funn has really been conspicuous
by his absence from this board since we called his bluff on
the "automated" power/pattern switching he uses.

Wish we could get one of those black sedans with the weird
loop antenna on the roof to cruise through the metro.

Maybe one day Nurse Jeff and I'll share the personal message he sent us concerning "engineering problems" at the big 15~Ten. We asked him specifically if KFNN has some special authorization to run with more than 100 watts after sunset. Judging by the lack of response to that question, our guess is no. How difficult can it be to change patterns and lower power at sunset? Guess you could say the same about programming KT'R-FM .. but we've addressed that one numerous times before! ::)
