700 and 990 xmitter pics

Wow... someone remind me that the county roads in Hunt County are NOT paved... and NOT easily driven with a motorcycle. WOW. Who's idea was it to build those in BFE?

Anyway... I went with a printed out map of the 770 area.. and after a bit of searching, I found it. Most of the pics (25 or so of them) are of 770 - there's no fence around the area - just the doghouses and xmitter bldg. 990 had a fence up, so I didn't bother going in.

Lots of the pics of 700 show the radials more or less sprawled everywhere. They're obviously not done with those yet. Also it appears they HAVE been digging around/under the doghouses as if to level them out some. I didn't see any that looked real bad - and they all had slabs under them, but the ground out there was very cracked and dry... and I'm assuming there's a lot of shifting going on.

As an afterthought I decided to go find 990. Thanks to my web browser on my phone, I was able to get close enough with the FCC AM Search "area map" to actually SEE the towers in the distance... and more or less drive straight to them. I think the whole trip was ~130mi.

Disregard the 2 or 3 cat pictures... I'm too lazy to setup the FTP and delete them - I just dumped the whole contents of my camera into this dir.

WON'T BE LONG NOW! Soon you'll see a really nice "FOR SALE OR LEASE TO OWN" sign on 990 and 700. Come on gang! Let's start a cluster! Everyone borrow some money from their folks and we'll make an offer.

Thanks Vid! I didn't think anyone would really take the time to go out there. Kudo's to you for the great pix. My favorite was of the calico passed out in the sunbeam.

The Black and white cat would definitely be an improvement over most talk show hosts.

They both live up to their names. The calico is "Princess" and she knows it. The black and white one I've had since he was 3 weeks old (hes just now a year) and his name is Rascal. He loves biting ANYTHING that moves. Including talk show hosts *grin*

Cool pics... thanks. I've actually had the fortune (or misfortune) to sit at the 990 Xmitter and monitor a ball game.. this was right after it went on the air, pre studio. We hooked up a Comrex Hotline, and plugged it into the BE board that they had out there, and it worked pretty decent.
