700 on the air - and its Spanish.

Yawn. Suppose they put on a station and nobody listened. Pretty soon - the AM band will be a sea of foreign languages and IBOC hash. Great way to revive interest in the band.

Re: 700 on the air - and its Spanish? - maybe?

When I turned it on just now (10:17am) I heard an english language christian music song. The second song sounds spanish.

and there ya go. Either another Spanish station, Christain,or conservative talk. Yes sir plenty of variety on the dial.

Those of you in DFW: Check KHSE after sunset and let us know how badly WLW clobbers it. KSEV in Houston catches all kinds of nighttime grief in much of the market.

The WLW interference issues with KHSE will be even more severe in the Winter. :p

I thought 700WLW was a clearchannel AM....doesn't that give them sole use of the frequency or do I have it wrong?

Not for quite some time. Clears are afforded a high degree of signal protection, but it's not the whole continental United States like it once was.

I listened as I drove downtown last night and the signal was solid the whole time. I did not hear WLW at all. (this was from 11 to 11:30pm)
The station was simulcasting 990am's brokered ethnic programming.

I listened to 700 this morning at 0600 and heard a legal ID for KRVA 1600 AM. It seems that the station is simulcasting a brokered Indian/Pakistani format from 1600 at least part time. The 700 signal did not ID itself.
