700 WLW Newsroom Broadcasting for Other Markets?

Hiya. Long time reader, first post here. Good to be here and I enjoy your insights!

Does the 700 WLW newsroom do local news for different Clear Channel cities? Reason being, I was driving from Washington Court House to Columbus tonight and thought I'd just turn the dial one frequency to see how many long distance stations I got.

I got one on 1510 WLAC out of Nashville. Bill Rinehart was doing the local Nashville news. He hasn't moved to my knowledge. Does 700 WLWs news staff read the news for other markets?

a Few Years back WLW provided News for KLOU in St Louis and WONE In Dayton prior to WONE's Flip to Sports and im thinking they also did it on WLAP in Lexington at one point. im not sure about other places.

Wow, thats interesting. I guess they scour the TV stations and newspaper sites, make a copy, and read it?

Pretty neat.

I want to say yes that WLW does do news for smaller markets, and CC in Cincy can be classified like people in Denver classify CC in Denver as the "mother ship". Reason being, KOA in Denver produces local news for Omaha, Des Moines, Casper, amongst others; mostly smaller markets then Denver, sorta like WLW doing their news and sending news for their sister stations up the bird overnights. Keep in mind while WLW and KOA are both owned by CC, KOA is a far cry from that of WLW. WLW listeners are lucky that the station is pretty much 24/7 live and local, and has a descent news department.

I have recently heard WHAS anchors on in Lexington. I was assuming that WHAS pretty much does what WLW does, however WHAS has cut back on their local news, having none on the air during the weekends. I also had a feeling it was all recorded when the "local" anchor quit coming back on at the tail end of the newscast to give current weather conditions before rejoining the network..

My sources tell me this has been going on for quite a while and is not just limited to Cincinnati, as some posters have mentioned here.

And yes, about the only way you could do news from a distance (absent sources in-market), would be cut and paste, then rewrite (hopefully) from the internet and wire services.

WLW also provides news for several XM stations on the top of the hour.
Now, that I had no idea they did that.
Yahoo! news anyone?
