I love these 2 decades and I used to have what I thought WAS THE BEST/NICEST SOUNDING stream that played a mix of 70s and 80s!

It was BIG R RADIO's stream -- It was 64k WMA and sounded excellent for digital!!

Sadly they stopped all thier WMA streams and went to MP3 which doesnt sound as good.. (Especially @ 64k)


Now I listen to 181.FM's 80s stream and sometimes thier 80s lite stream which are 64k WMA :)

Anyone know of any other 70s80s streams that use WMA?? (Super 80s is using WMA but its only 32k and doesnt sound that good)
 
I use .wav files on my stream. The stream itself is an .m3u and I usually listen to it with Windows Media Player and it should work in i-tunes as well. Not sure if this is what you're looking for but you're welcome to check it out and, if you do, I'd love any feedback you would care to provide. It is primarily 70s based but does go back a few years into the 60s and just touches the early 80. If I can ever find some spare time, I'm going to add several more 80s titles to it. Thank you........Im listening with WMP9 and it says your stream is 562k (hehe) -- I closed WMP and re-opened and hopped on again and this time it says 505k (MP3) -- Your page says 96k but it sounds much nicer than 96k MP3 does!! (Sounds like 128k)

I wonder what the true bitrate is...... Thank you for sharing,sounds good!!
 
Thats strange.....

I have 3 other players besides WMP9 and none will play it!

1) Realplayer 8 - Reports the stream as 181k or so and dumps it within seconds......

2) Screamer Player - Dumps it immediatly

3) VLC - Link changes tohttp://localhost:8000/stream and obviously doesnt play!!

Very strange...... Well im glad It plays with WMP!!! -- I like your stream!!




I checked STATISTICS on WMP and it says around 180k for "Bandwidth in use" so iwould say your stream is higher than the 96k that pages reports.... (But it sounds good!!!)
 
I have it set at 96 due to my limited upstream bandwidth. With your difficulty getting it to play in other players, I probably should take a look at some of the server settings; although, I'm not a very technically savvy guy. Thanks for your kind words. I have always known what I wanted the radio station to sound like musically in my mind...sometimes that just difficult to create in the real world! :)
 
No it isnt a big deal buddy,i was just testing it in all my players.. I found it will only play in WMP9.. (Of the players I have)


I hope you dont mind but I added your stream to the grace internet radio directory.... (Anyone with an internet radio will be able to listen (Including me :))) I hope that doesnt hurt your bandwidth usage..

And I believe your stream is being sent at 192k NOT 96k but im not sure because it keeps jumping all over the place....... (I do believe its close to 192k as it sounds very good for MP3)
 
I looked at the settings and the encoder is set at 96K but it shows the actual strean at 192K. Does that make any sence? Like I said, I'm not a very technically savvy guy. It may be by accident that this whole thing works in the first place! LOL
 
Yes well please dont change it!!!

192k MP3 sounds excellent!! It must be a mistake as most streams carried by them are 96k and dont sound quite as good)
