70s Dance Music Weekends?

Comparing #1 NYC to #33 Charlotte!

I love legendary, heritage 106.7/LiteFM (especially Valerie Smaldone).

In Charlotte, I enjoy Lite102.9 - it's like the LiteFM of Charlotte.

K104.7 is like Fresh in NYC - boring & predictable.

106.7 (only referred to as "Lite-fm" maybe twice an hour) is now called "New York's 106.7." The music mix is anything but Lite. Put on Charlotte's Lite and New York's 106.7, and the clear winner is WLYT to my ears. But, that's putting ratings and billing aside. WLTW continues to bill well, and their ratings are still high despite falling 25-54 to third place as a result of the "Fresh" competition over at 102.7. The air-staff on WLTW, especially Al Bernstein and Valerie Smaldonw, continues to be excellent. The two aforementioned hosts are the most entertaining on the station... great personalities. The music, though, has gotten out of hand. Take a look on YES. Certainly not "Lite" anymore.

THAT is why I enjoy Charlotte's AC stations. They ARE AC stations. In NYC, the two stations pretending to be adult contemporary seem to be straying from the AC sound. "Hey There Delilah" is played on both stations. EEK!! I can't imagine having either WLTW or WWFS on in an office. However, WLYT and WKQC are different stories.

I can't believe w-ltw has switched formats. They had more of a sleepy style in the early 90s. I lived in nyc for 30 years before moving to charlotte. I thought charlotte had geat radio stations when I moved here in '93. There was mix 104.7,lite 102.9 and sunny 107.9. They definitely sounded better than new yorks radio. The radio stations have changed alot in charlotte since then. I think lite 102.9 sounded better then than now.

Someone needs to find a new term for what Mix is doing, but it's not standards.

From what I heard last week, Mix is a Soft AC format. It reminds me of WLTW's HD-2 channel, called "Classic Lite." 60's through the 80's with some standards thrown in.
Well, whatever they're doing, their station identifications indicate they don't care any more about "good music". I'm just glad I have my other station.
