710 ESPN to begin broadcasting classic Mariners games after MLB season delayed

What else does a sport station do? Sports has come to a grinding halt, so there's nothing to talk about for sports talk shows.

I was over at a certain major sports TV network HQ last Monday. All but about three people had been sent home last week. Even the fantasy football talk folks had left.

710 AM Will air a classic MLB Game and this includes the Mariners Vs. the Oakland A's from 2001.

Every radio station if not just about that aris sports that are replaying classic games of a team, as I guess they don't want to be broadcast live sports or regular talk not needed have to be a sports station 24/7. But I am sure that they can't broadcast the games on the internet.

Really? Sports-formatted stations that air old games during the lockdown will have to turn off their internet streams while they are running, just as they do for live games? How petty is THAT of MLB?

Because the various leagues spend a lot of money archiving and cataloging past games, then making them available for sale in highlight reels, etc. "Alternative Revenue" is the term.

Streaming these old games means the league loses control over the content, because that stream can get easily recorded or linked elsewhere, and re-distributed without permission.

Actually listened to this last night, and it was surprisingly entertaining. Some notes:
It's so good to hear Niehaus again!
Not surprisingly, there are few commercial breaks--innings went back-to-back. The few ads were either public service spots or virus-related.
Frustratingly enough, the game replay ended at 10:10 just as they were going to play the ninth inning! No announcement, just direct to national ESPN feed.
