730 AM Unknown Station

I am trying to identify a station playing classical guitar music on 730 AM that I have been hearing every night for over a week in central Georgia. The station occasionally plays classical music as well but mostly classical guitar. I have listened for long periods of time but never hear any announcement.

Some evenings I hear XEX from Mexico with adult contemporary music coming in from one direction and this station from the other. I can also hear it for a while in the morning after the sun rises so I assume it is probably located west of me (like KFAB Omaha and KXEL Waterloo, Iowa) which I can only receive here on winter mornings after sunrise).

The closest 730 am station to me is WSTT in Thomasville GA which plays gospel music (5kw day, 27 watts night) which I haven't heard in a while. There is no streaming available for this station to confirm if it is them.

Any suggestions? I can't find any US or Canadian stations on the FCC list that feature this type of programming. My best guess is that it is a station that is stunting until they switch to a new format.

I was going to suggest a Georgia web SDR that I often use to browse the ham bands, but which includes the AM broadcast band, but it's in Dahlonega and, looking at the map, that's a fur piece (as they say down there) from Thomasville. Is it close to you in central Georgia?
There's another SDR in Orlando, Fla., but that's probably not going to help, either. I'll keep looking and let you know if I find anything.
 
Update: Turns out that Dahlonega SDR doesn't cover the AM broadcast band after all. I listened to 730 on Orlando and Washington, D.C. and didn't hear anything that sounded like the mystery station.

Thanks for checking the SDRs in my area. I heard the same station with the classical guitar music again late this evening and again this morning. I guess it could be my local WSTT station but I doubt it unless they are running 5KW at night instead of the authorized 27 watts. Perhaps someone else on this forum will hear it.
 
There' a Radio Progreso outlet from Cuba on 730 but I couldn't tell you what their morning programming is. If there's a brokered station on 730 it could be doing musical fill if they don't have a spot sold. We can rule out WLIL in Tennessee.
 
I can hear it very weakly in Loganville, GA tonight. Later I will try to go outside and see if I can pick up better. I will also try the Athens SDR although it can be very odd.
 
The rain didn't stop until last night but I'm working 3rd shift for the next few weeks. On my way to work in my car around 8:30PM, nothing. WGN was on 720 coming in like a local so I know my car radio was picking up well. This morning a little after 7AM I tried on my Grundig in the house and fairly strong was classical guitar on 730. I have no idea what station it is but it seems to be coming from NNW of me.

Too bad you chose a little after 7:00 to tune in. You probably just missed the legal ID, if the station is legit. I'm listening to Athens now and hearing nothing on 730, guess the station must only come in near dawn.
 
I hear this station with the classical guitar every evening around midnight. It is the only signal on 730am for me most of the time, but sometimes XEX covers it up briefly with their adult contemporary music for a few minutes, then disappears. I also hear it in the early morning like Mitch. I agree with him that this station probably is coming from NNW of us. I have listened to this station several times for over an hour, trying to hear a legal ID, but never hear any human voice. I think they are just playing a classical guitar CD over and over again.
It would be great if someone else in the central US could pick this station up and help us guess where it might be coming from.
 
Did you ever determine what this station is? I hear it this morning (5am) fairly strong in Winder Ga. No TOH ID.
 
We believe that this station is probably KQPN from West Memphis, Arkansas. This station was previously running sports programming but the website MWList now describes their current format as non-stop classical music. This guess makes sense given that the station has been heard in Georgia and Tennessee. It is also authorized to broadcast 24 hours with 1000 watts of power which explains why we are hearing it at night. Most US stations on 730am are primarily daytime and authorized at night with only a few watts of power. The station never gives any identification or any voice announcements, just music. I imagine the format will change to something permanent eventually.
 
I haven't heard this station for the past week. Whenever I check this frequency in the evening I hear nothing or XEX from Mexico. I checked the Tipton TN SDR and heard nothing on 730 am there. I guess they have gone silent. We will see what happens.....
 
For those still interested in what is happening at KQPN 730 am, the station has now returned to the air relaying the news/talk programming of WENO 760 am Nashville TN. The station ID identifies the station as WENO 760 am Nashville. I was able to confirm this new programming by listening to KQPN through the Streema website. WENO is owned by Disruptor Radio LLC, which has been acquiring new stations recently. Perhaps they have purchased KQPN.

MWLIST.org no longer lists KQPN as inactive but does not describe the type of programming being broadcast.
 
Memphis had four stations doing Sports formats for awhile.

560 WHBQ ... Fox Sports Radio ... Flinn Broadcasting
680 and 92.9 WMFS-AM-FM ... ESPN Radio ... Audacy
730 KQPN ... SportsMap ... F.W. Robertt Broadcasting
790 WMC ... BetQL and CBS Sports Radio ... Audacy

I can see 730 KQPN having a hard time competing against these other Sports stations. WMFS has an FM signal. WMC is 5,000 watts at all times. WHBQ is 5,000 watts days and 1,000 watts nights, low on the dial. KQPN is 1,000 watts and must use a complicated directional antenna to be on clear channel frequency 730 AM.
 
i think alot of the local hosts on WHBQ pay for the air time themselves... i forget who told me that but someone alluded to it awhile back, somewhere.. i just cant remember the details
