Any updates? Have they fixed the signal problem and all that other jazz they have been promising for months? Oh, streetalk is Simmons is looking at buying another station in the market since they have found their new home in the old WREC/Rock 103 studios on Beale. Who's for sale?

I'd guess that 1170 is for sale, since it was another station like 730 that is owned by EMF that they don't really need. Are they still working toward moving to 1180?I was in Memphis last week, and in flipping through the dial and noticed that 1170 was off. I don't know if that was temporary or permanent, but I'd guess that there's a chance of a sale there.

I don't know if 1170 is the one, considering the transmitter is too far away, line of sight-wise, from the Beale Street offices. Course, the 1170 tower was once knocked down while someone was mowing the lawn around it, so they may be moving the tower.

What tower has 1170 been operating on? I thought it was off-air, but in early March I was riding on White Station and my scan stopped on it. Of course it was simulcasting what you already here on KLOVEs two FMs here. However, the signal was very weak and scratchy and I am surprised my radio even picked it up.WPLX had a good signal back in the late 80s when Rudy Pylant had it, then in the early 90s when Bill Pollack was running it. The thing that hurt it was it was a daytimer. The info on radio-locator no longer has the CP info for the move to 1180 which would have given them a handful of watts at night.

I didn't really see the need for starting a new thread, but I did find it interesting to read that 730 is now a Cardinals affiliate.

I just got an email from them today saying that they were operating from FOUR new towers in West Memphis and that their power had been upgraded.I'll check on the way home tonight, after dark, to see if it makes any difference. If not, they may never show up in the 12+.Does anyone know if they have shown up in the breakdowns?

They actually got it turned on late last week. I noticed they were on-and-off several times Friday morning. I haven't tried listening yet at night, but their daytime signal seems to have improved somewhat. I don't have to fight through the static to hear Dan Patrick while in eastern Shelby County.

I was told of some firings from 730 over the weekend so I tuned in yesterday to listen to the station for a bit. It was very hard to pick up around 3:30 pm at Kirby/Poplar. It was unlistenable, actually.

Oh, I mentioned changes there. Several folks were let go Friday; the morning show with Tony Brooks was cancelled; they added Jim Rome to the lineup, put Mike and Mike back in the mornings.

I guess TB is wishing now that he'd stayed with The Rainman. You could have predicted this. Memphis is not large enough to support 2 sportstalk stations. If it were, why would WMC AM be playing Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn? WHBQ has a strong hold on the sports listener in Memphis and it'll take a lot of money, promotion, and strong local personalities to de-reail the Q-train.

WHBQ's numbers are lower now than when WMC was sports. Where did the WMC listeners go? When WMC was sports, they usually had better numbers in afternoon drive, but WHBQ always did better in morning drive, especially in Lapides' slot (speaking in their target demos, of course).

There are rumblings that 730 will carry UT football and basketball. Too bad I won't be able to listen to it where I live.

Correct. They officially announced it 2-3 weeks ago. There was a small write-up in the CA.
