740 spurious HF emissions

anyone know whats up. 1885 and 3885 have had 740 simulcasts at various times

heard them both plenty loud near boston

I know some Canadian stations have been (and maybe still are?) relayed on shortwave for listeners in the arctic areas that do not have local stations. I don't think 740 is among those stations, and besides most of them were or are in the 6 MHz band.

Or it could have been a leave over from the CBC days perhaps? CBC was a strong repeater back in the day for shortwave.

Not on those frequencies. Both are in ham radio bands.

The CBC had (still has?) domestic shortwave repeaters for their St. John's (NL) and Vancouver stations. CFRB had (still has?) a domestic shortwave repeater. But no frequencies below 5.9MHz were used.

There are still at least four domestic shortwave stations operating across Canada - all relays of CBC from Vancouver and Goose Bay, CFRB (re-activated a couple years ago after some absence), and CKMX (formerly CFCN) Calgary. I think CKWX Vancouver still has one but I'm not sure on that one. There used to be others.

I have no idea why 740 Toronto would be heard on a HF frequency anywhere.
