750 KHz this morning in Utah

Coming to work this morning, I noticed that it was 6:59 AM (MDT), so I switched over to 750, to hear KHWG's "National Anthem". Just as I got there, I heard a male announcer say "Atlanta, Georgia"....could that have been the tail-end of a WSB-AM, Atlanta ID?
Also, heard several different stations coming in and out, including KHWG and maybe 3 others. KHWG didn't get to the "NA" until 7:07 AM.
I also heard a spot for an online gambling service, promoting, "You and your family can place bets on anything, any time, anywhere, with our internet betting site". I thought that kind of thing could only be advertised on the air in a state like Nevada, but KHWG is the only station on 750 in Nevada, and I could still hear their country music in the background. Maybe another nearby state with gambling?

Possibly a very short snippet of WSB, and I think GA law severely limits gambling. Not familiar with many state laws, but that's my guess. Earlier this year I heard on 1160 during nighttime here in VA, a guy said "KSL" and that's it.

You absolutely could have heard WSB in Nevada. I'd say stick with it and listen for more clues, tips, etc.

With a lot of patience, it can be done. I tried for years to get California. As of today I have three AM logs from the Golden State (KNX, KFI and KNBR) and last year managed CKWX from Vancouver, BC with a surprisingly good signal, 604 area code mentions and '1130 News' with Pacific Time Zone noted.

You absolutely could have had WSB in Salt Lake City. With much patience and lots of snippets of clues, hints and etc. you will get your positive log.

It can be done. I have three from California and one from Vancouver, BC. All 'barefoot' reception on an old GE Superadio. I live in southern Michigan.

Don't know about East to West morning reception, but I had a similar fleeting experience with KFI one morning.

I live in Cincinnati, was driving to work just after dawn, and was entering one of our worst spots for AM reception, that being "Fort Washington Way". That portion of the interstate is E/W, below ground level (vertical walls on either side) and in between the downtown area and our football and baseball stadiums.

I had been tuned to 640, and just as I entered, I heard KFI with their TOH I.D. Clear, and considering the distance, strong. Gone just as quickly.

One reason why I love MW DX'ing.

I would think a better chance of getting Atlanta's WSB-750 in Utah would be prior to Atlanta sunrise.

6:59 A.M. MDT this time of year (October) would be 8:59 MDT, about two hours after sunrise in Atlanta.

But getting-up at 4 A.M. MDT might get you a better shot at logging them.

Been getting some interesting stuff at sunrise. KCOL 600 Wellington, CO pops up at fair levels every morning around 5:45am with their news-talk format. (The channel is mainly blank besides a weak CJWW) Also been hearing WY and tent. SD stuff at these hours of morning. One I've been getting well is KPOW 1260 Powell; also have heard KHAT, KIML 1270, etc. KGO also gets CCIed starting around 6AM by a station which I think is KBHB 810 in Sturgis, SD.

Last month I was on a 6 state road trip and while I did not hear KXL on 750 in my travels, I did manage to log 1190 KEX in all 6 states, mostly in the early morning around sunrise.

Take Two:

While on my recent travels in 6 states. I did not log 750 KXL, but I did log 1190 KEX in all 6 states (OR, ID, UT, CO, WY, MT) usually in the morning hours around sunrise.
