My travels over the weekend took me to Waltham, and thus I took a side trip to 750 South street, the longtime home to towers first for WCRB-AM 1330 then, after reconstruction, WHET-AM and WRCA-AM. I visited there earlin March after I observed only one tower was then visible from route 128, which meant that they were undergoing demolition. The one closer to route 128 was not completely gone: the base and about 30 feet of steel were still there. After the floods, the tower closer to the radio stations' building was taken down. Now I can report that there is NO evidence to the casual observer that a radio station ever existed on the site (with the exception of the parabolic dishes, and similar instruments can be seen at banks and even gas stations.) The units at the bases of the towers were removed, showing soil, so it remains to be seen if the property owner will pave over even those two patches. Necrat.us will probably have to delete the towers from the WRCA listing, or place them in some kind of archive.
