I was Listening to them Yesterday afternoon @ 400pm & they claimed they were number 1 in the Nielsen Audio Ratings. Number 1 when ? They aren’t in The February Ratings. When are they number 1?

They would probably argue that WNYC is NEWS Talk...WNYC-FM | Talk | 3.7 | 5.2 | 4.9 | 693,200
And the title of WABC's web site is "77 WABC New York News Talk Music Radio".They would probably argue that WNYC is NEWS Talk...
Because the 536,400 listen longer on average than do the 693,200.Hmm how can WABC and WNYC both be 4.9 but 536,400 and 693,200 respectively?
And because the people who listen to WNYC (and public radio in general) tend to have busy lives, so they're in and out more frequently. Because WABC appeals to largely older people, many of them set their radios on WABC and leave them there for long stretches (whether they're actually paying attention or not). It becomes background chatter.Because the 536,400 listen longer on average than do the 693,200.
Trust me, that is EXACTLY what they are doing.On-air, WABC is just boasting "We're number one in New York", without any qualifiers such as "...among AM stations" or "...among Talk stations".
But to be fair, they're not even saying "...in the ratings" or mentioning Nielsen, so for all we know they could be saying they're number one in bloviation.
Where is the proof or verification for this statement? And because the people who listen to WNYC (and public radio in general) tend to have busy lives, so they're in and out more frequently
Unverified, also. This is your personal opinion, and not substantiated.. Because WABC appeals to largely older people, many of them set their radios on WABC and leave them there for long stretches (whether they're actually paying attention or not). It becomes background chatter.
Surprised the cume is that high for a NCE talker. WKSU's ratings have ebbed and flowed since becoming Cleveland's sole NPR outlet, but they usually have fairly low cume, even for the books when they are neck-and-neck with WTAM.WNYC-FM | Talk | 3.7 | 5.2 | 4.9 | 693,200
Or there care giver turns the radio on for them in the morning and shuts it off at the end of the dayAnd because the people who listen to WNYC (and public radio in general) tend to have busy lives, so they're in and out more frequently. The chances of that situation becoming a "metered household" are minimal to none.Or there care giver turns the radio on for them in the morning and shuts it off at the end of the day
