780-AM WIIN back on the air today

780 in central Mississippi was back on the air today.

I am almost sure that I listened yesterday, and there was silence.

The announcer also said that here as an FM station simulcasting with them.

The format is, again, all Beatles.

Yes, and once again they are only playing on channel of the audio. Most of the songs have no vocals or half of the instruments missing. Completly unlistenable. It's almost like they are doing it on purpose to force people not to listen. The last I checked the FM was being used by WSFZ 930 but the frequency was changed to 92.9. WIIN is obviously playing an old recording announcing the old frequency. It would be a good station if they would only invest in a $4 "Y" adapter.

From FCC filing: STATION WIIN HAS BEEN SILENT SINCE JUNE 1, 2014. THE LICENSEE HAS A CONSTRUCTION PERMIT TO RELOCATE THE STATION'S FACILITIES BUT DUE TO VARIOUS TECHNICAL AND OTHER FACTORS, INCLUDING THE NEED TO COORDINATE WITH OTHER STATIONS, THE LICENSEE HAS BEEN UNABLE TO CONSTRUCT THE CP FACILITIES. STATION WIIN IS REQUIRED TO RECOMMENCE BROADCASTS BEFORE JUNE 1, 2015, WHICH IS THE ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF ITS HAVING GONE SILENT. IN ORDER TO ACCOMPLISH THAT THE LICENSEE WILL NEED TO OPERATE FROM THE TEMPORARY FACILITIES DESCRIBED IN THIS STA REQUEST. GRANT OF THIS REQUEST WILL ENABLE THE STATION TO RETURN TO PROVIDING SERVICE TO ITS COMMUNITY OF LICENSE, RIDGELAND, MS, AND ULTIMATELY TO CONSTRUCT THE CP FACILITIES AND THEREBY CONTINUE SERVICE TO RESIDENTS OF RIDGELAND AND SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES.

Where is the signal originating from? The old tower? I assumed they were going to move the transmitter to beasley road and take down the old tower.

They are broadcasting from the Beasley Rd. site. It is my understanding that they are working on a permanent antenna setup to accomodate 1300 / 930 and 780 on one tower.

I still can't figure out why they can go through the trouble and expense to move a transmitter but they can't figure out how to get both audio channels to work. Even a complete moron could jury rig it with a $5 Y-adapter. The beatles just won't work with missing vocals.
