790/99.7 SCORE Advertisement

What is up with the SCORE doing the advertisements for GRESH & ZO and the SPORTSBEAT with Cartoons of them for the ads?

Is that REALLY going to get me to listen?

I believe those are actual sketches done by Zo himself. I could be mistaken but I think I heard them talkign about them. Zo is a very talented artist from what I have seen an heard on the air.

The problem with getting people to listen is Gresh. No one is neutral towards him. If you've heard him you like him or hate him. If you hate him the ad won't make you like him and the fact that even well done caricatures are grotesque by nature adds to the fact that the ad won't sway anybody.

It seems that WSKO must do everything possible to compete with the powerhouse that is WEEI. Unfortunately for WSKO, I don't think that two Sports stations in this market are viable. Moreover, as much as some people like local sports - including the Pawtucket Red Sox and Brown basketball - people are MORE interested in the Boston teams. Finally, the level of talent at WSKO, while not bad for the market, simply cannot compete with the likes of Dale Arnold, John Dennis, and Glenn Ordway.
