790 WLBE, sure took them long enough.

This is an update to a closed thread about the subject.
Since returning to the air in November of 2020 (after being off the air for over a year) with what I would guess you would call a light A/C / MOR format that was completely commercial free till late last year when they started simulcasting 1410 WQBQ while 1410's transmitter was being replaced after failing, WLBE has gone Musica en Espanol. 790 stayed with the WQBQ simulcast till about 2 weeks ago even though the 1410 transmitter was replaced and back on the air several months ago. WLBE went back to the commercial free light A/C / MOR format till (I guess it was) todays flip. I'm hearing them say Viva Mexico during their sweepers.

That makes three fulltime Spanish language AMs now in Lake County, only WQBQ is left.

Of course, you have several totally different taste groups in Lake County. Mexicans, many employed in agriculture and service industries, will want Regional Mexican and won't listen to the Caribbean origin Puerto Ricans and Cubans who will want their own adult music. And many of the 18-34 group will want reggaeton and Spanish CHR. So there are definitely three very strong format possibilities there.

Cflradio.net posted the news along with what might appear to be the new station's name/logo. OK 790 AM WLBE.

Almost a nod to the past GM O.K. Walters, but I kid, I kid. :)

I like it. However, knowing the owners, I would bet that the station will be moved to Orlando in short order. The towers at WLBE are in awful shape - I am surprised they are still standing at this point.
