790 WQXI-THE 60'S

Is there anyway to get ahold of the old wqxi album art?

they had some awesome cover art and trying to get ahold of them has been futile

the one in particular has a picture of robert e lee listening to the station with a crowd of people and atlanta fulton county stadium behind him

they just dont make a lot of stuff with that kind of local personality anymore

The only way to get this album art is to constantly check out the local vintage vinyl stores. I was so lucky to get my hands on a cover only of WQXI's Southern Gold, which was released in 73 or 74. The album to which you make ref to is from about 68 I believe, and on the begining of the album track on both sides you hear this voice say" And now more WQXI Hit Paraders". It was a great album, I had them all in my childhood. That's what robbing your sisters record collection would get ya! :D

Burkhart created a really great team. And speaking of the station albums one of them started out with the great Pams "79 WQXI - Golden"Jingle followed by the voice of Mark Van Brooks doing the intro. Still remember Dr. Don Rose covering a beautiful screw up on the "Instant Pick and Play", Bobby Harper's question and answer time ...the one that almost got him fired. Gray Granger, Bob Todd and Gorf, Pat Hughes, and of course Tony the Tiger Taylor.
Creative radio at it's best.

Hey you groovy guys and gals,
(Sorry I am thinking 60's jock)
I am new to the page, and I happen to have one of those albums, I will check and see what issue it is, and would be glad to scan it and email it to whomever wants it. I know it's a POST album, probably they all were.

Glad to see someone values the history of Atlanta radio. Too bad none of the station programmers/suits today care about heritage (i.e. 96 Rock, WGST, Z-93, etc., et. al)

My thoughts on that (as if anyone cares): radio station owners today have no concern for heritage. They are only in this business temporarily, so what difference is it to them if they dump heritage call letters, formats, people, etc. All they want to do is earn a 1 per cent profit maybe on the millions they spent to get those licenses. Except for Cox, I have air checks older than their company.

The only Georgia stuff I have is a Coyote McCloud on Quixie from the mid 70's. It's on Reelradio Top 40. You have my permission to use it. Sorry that I dont have more.
