8.2 (WFAA Digital Channel) -- Dallas--Fort Worth Market

If you happen to have a digital TV and 8.2 programed into your TV, WFAA is showing the live feed from their sister station Channel 11 in Houston. Pretty neat to watch and good use of the extra digital channel.

also in austin on sister station kvue 24-2 hd, have been carrying the live feed from houston's sister station.
on saturday morning for several hours the main channel 24 was carrying the feed.

I watched quite a bit of it onlline, as my digital tuner/antenna wasnt able to pick-up 8.1/8.2 for some reason. Every other channel comes through clear as a bell. Id rather a KHOU-style of newscasting up here, ive always thought they had the superior product in the News department than WFAA.

DirecTV has been carrying KHOU's coverage for
the rest of us (some, like me, have lived in Texas
and have a personal interest in this).

By the way, KHOU established a reputation for
hurricane coverage 'way back in 1961 when a
young reporter got the idea of putting a live
radar picture from the Weather Bureau (now the
National Weather Service) office in Galveston when
Hurricane Carla was moving in on the Texas Gulf Coast.
KHOU scooped both KPRC and KTRK and landed that
reporter a job at CBS. His name? Dan Rather.

If you have a UHF-only antenna you won't get WFAA. They are the only ones on VHF for now.

When analog goes away KTVT will move their digital signal down to channel 11 from 19, and KFWD moves from 51 to 9.

Now that the hurricane coverage is gone, I've noticed a pretty big change for 8.2. First, they're no longer calling it Express 8.2. I believe it's now called News 8 Now.

It looks pretty much the same, but they're continually running some of their news stories along with taped weather forecasts. Previously they had a taped news update with weather that ran only occasionally. Most of the time it was just the weather radar and the weather radio voice. They have also added promos and PSA's. I assume if they get enough viewers they'll put some real ads on there too. It's a much better use of the channel than what they had before.

8.3 has changed to just the radar picture. I kind of liked the airport towercam better. It was just different. Besides, they have the weather radar in a box on 8.2 anyway.
