8 Hours of the 80s

Since Labor Day they've been playing "8 hours of the 80s" Saturday nights on KBIG. Is this the natural evolution of Disco Saturday Night? Seems to fit the station better with the music they're playing now. 70s music was too old for all the other stuff they play.

Movin did the Labor Day weekend all 80's also, and this past weekend again. Seems like they're both monitoring each other.

Between Movin, My, Hot, 98.7 and KROQ, they all play some 80's stuff. But nothing like an 80's only station. Movin did that for the Labor Day weekend and it sounded great, but unfortuneatly they went back to there usual boring format.

HD2 - Movin has a Triple A
Hot has Slow Jams
My has Pride Radio
98.7 has something called eRockstar

KROQ has Roq of the 80's on their HD2, but they dont play the R&B, Top 40, or Freestyle 80's ala Power 106 in the 80's which played it all.

I dont think Jack adds anything different to the 80's music that isnt already played by say KROQ or 98.7, and the other 80's stuff is covered by one of the other stations mentioned.

That's a shame if they got rid of Disco Saturday Night. One of the best shows on the air, and the only time I would ever tune in KBIG. It's always a tradition to tune it in on your way to wherever you happen to be spending your night.

They could make an all 70's Disco format and put it on their HD3. For the people that actually want to listen to it, they can go buy an HD receiver or listen to it on the net.

Clarence Barnes is playing all disco music tonight. I don't know if it started at 7 or 8. At 6 it was all 80's. Movin is so confusing. 80's, Disco, Homeboy Oldies, Mega Oldies...just depends what hour you flip it on. Make's Liz Kiley's "Rock With A Beat" and KDL look like they were brilliant formats.

Exactly. That's the only time I tuned into KBIG. And also for THUMP RADIO, but that's another topic. I heard enough of the 80's memory lane trip on Richard Blades Saturday Night 80's show on KYSR.
Disco Saturday Night was always my favorite.
