So the CRTC said yes to satellite radio...but for how many channels ?

From an earlier post of this board :
"Also, the satellite companies are only allowed to give subscribers nine non-Canadian channels for every Canadian channel they get. Basically, if you get the 8 Canadian channels, you will only be allowed to subscribe to 72 non-Canadian channels."

Is it possible for you to give me a full explanation ? I will pay the same price than americans but for only 80 channels ? I want the full programming of XM and Sirius...not only a few selected channels...what is that decision ??!!

Which service has 240? XM is about 150.

But to answer your question, 2 points:
-They're likely not counting the individual traffic and Play by Play channels
-They could potentially decide to lanuch 10 Canadian channels, which would allow almost all of the lineup in.

Ok, I checked too fast...
http://www.xmradio.com/programming/full_channel_listing.jsp?sort=number
There is a channel 247 but I see that there is not always channel between channel 1 and 147...

Find someone with a US mailing address who will help you or get a PO box under the border. The grey market is thriving, however I happen to like the proposed CHUM channel lineup and would consider subscribing if I lived in or near Canada.
______________
