800 Radio Trans Mundial

Last night many MW stations north of me (SW Ohio) were either gone, or their signals were significantly reduced. Cuba was everywhere on the dial.

800 Bonaire was clear and strong like the old days when it was 500KW. Maybe not quite the same due to the increase in broadcast signals on the frequency.

The sun 8) is hard at work bringing DXer's new challenges and oppourtunities!

I could only catch a few minutes of DX time, but I did snag a couple of new stations.

Yes, last night we had tremendous auroral conditions. At these latitudes (38th to 42th Parallel), this will typically enhance AM Band stations coming from the South and attenuate (actually absorb) those North of here. When this happens, I have found it easier to catch VERY LOW power stations to the south that you would normally never have a chance of receiving during "normal" conditions.

You are absolutely right. My new loggings were both low power southern stations. Of course, they shouldn't have been on at that hour using what I presume was their day power.

Any chance of this happening again tonight? I am in central Ohio, probably 100 miles or so northeast of icangelp.
