80's, 90's, and Now

Looks like Cox made an adjustment to WWRM after the 22 months of Christmas music. Could this mean that they actually reacted to the blowback from those who miss the old WPOI or is this just bringing it in line with B98.5 in Atlanta? Thoughts? Do think that Cox will adjust other stations?

It is dorky to respond to your own post, but the Atlanta board says B98.5 dropped Delilah. Could that happen on WWRM? That would be great. Anything would be better including Rick/Dick Reigns VT'ing under another name on another station ::)

Could be. Considering Cox has made no effort to lure in former Point listeners with WXGL. The loss of the Old WPOI has sparked a Petition on thepetitionsite.com and a Facebook campaign to bring back a 80's or 90's or Adult Hits station to Tampa. I'm a part of all these groups. Considering I live in Citrus County and can pick up 101.5 on my radio. I can't however pick up WWRZ Max 98.3 So I have to resort to CD's in the car or listen to Hot AC WMFQ 92.9 out of Ocala which is the only station in my area that plays some of the music The Point did.

Then again B98.5 in Atlanta was tweaked in a more Hot AC due to competition from other Atlanta station. Mainly Star 94 and Journey 97.9.

Been listening to WWRM the past day or so and do like the changes.

Cox has tweaked "The Eagle" ever so slightly in the past year. Will Cox do anything different with stations other than WWRM who's to say. Cox has also tweaked WFLC 97.3 in Miami to Hot AC. I hope Cox takes it a step further and add artist such as R.E.M, Depeche Mode, New Order and other New Wave acts from the 80's. Or add some newer stuff from Sara Barelles, Adele, KT Tunstall and other Soft Rock fare from today. Magic isn't playing "Set Fire to Rain" yet.

Not related but in Orlando 98.9 WMMO dropped "Soft Rock n' Roll of Yesterday and Today" as its tagline and started adding Harder Rock to its playlist. Right after WHTQ ditched its format for News-Talk. Which stinks considering I liked the old format.

down here in Miami - Cox's 97.3 The Coast dropped Delilah and now has officially dropped it's all 80's weekend. This was a stable in South Florida on the Coast for many years. At this point, listeners are so angry but as I'm reading the boards, it pretty much appears to be a nationwide change by Cox Radio. Coast is playing heavy airplay on Adele, Maroon 5/Christina's Jagger, Tonight Tonight by Hot Chelle Rae - not very common songs on this station till now. Their Facebook page is being destroyed by loyal listeners. We'll see where this goes!

As far as I am concerned , any station is immediately improved by dropping Delilah and or Tesh

The ratings for 107.3 The Eagle are very strong in key demos. Don't expect any changes. Moving Magic to a more upbeat and current sound helps the cluster sales wise overall now that Hot's in the house. WDUV can always pick up those listeners that leave Magic for something softer.

Listening to WFLC The Coast in Maimi right now. Almost sounds like the old WPOI with a few Lady Gaga and Maroon 5 songs snuck in. Oh and with a few pop songs "The Point" would never touch with a ten foot pole. Such as music from Micheal Jackson, Marieh Carey, Hall and Oates, PM Dawn and other such fare. Hopefully Cox goes down this road with WWRM. Including the removal if the show thats on from 7 PM to 3AM.

Currentely playing "If it makes you happy by Sheryl Crow." Before that was Maroon 5 and Joan Jett, NO DELILAH! NO DELILAH! If Cox wants more people to listen to Magic remove her show. Spirit FM could use the syndicated talent.
