810 AM

As the AM Frequency of the Week: 810 thread is closed, thought I'd create a new thread.

Tonight, at 6:30 p.m. CT in the Austin, Texas, area, I picked up KSWV, Santa Fe, NM, playing American Woman by The Guess Who (1970), followed by a classic hits promo, followed by Neil Diamond's Sweet Caroline (1966). The promo identified the 99.9 FM sister station.

It's odd I would receive this station because I had never heard of it, nor never received it before anywhere, especially considering it's 5,000 watts days, 10 watts nights. I'm guessing it was still on its day power.

Was hoping it was that New York station, especially when I heard "the capitol city..."

During the day, 810 is usually blank, though there's a 25 watt station in San Antonio, which I've yet to receive.

Usually, 810 KCMO Kansas City comes in here at night, but not tonight.

What stations do you receive on 810?

810 KC:
WCKA Jacksonville, AL country 500 watts
WHB Kansas City, MO sports 5kw
WSJC Magee,MS religious 500 watts
ZNS-3-AM Freeport, Bahamas news/music unknown power level.

Most of the time either WCKA or Bahamas is heard.

I think you're referring to WGY Schenectady, near Albany, New York State's capital.
bingo!
Have never captured WGY here, and likely won't, given all the stations on 810.

Last month KSFO calls & programming went to 810.
No swap. KGO radio is no longer. Only exists as KGO-TV.
Lots of discussion in the forums.
