810 WGY

As a Phil Hendrie addict living in Cincinnati, this time of year is very hard for me. Between Bearcat call-in shows, high school football games and NASCAR shows, Phil is only on about twice a week. I have been able to remedy this for a while by getting my trusty Grundig S350 and listening to 810 WGY out of Albany. Lately though, the signal has been horrible. Did they do something with their signal? Is there another 810 out there somewhere?

Thanks for any help.

I'm in Columbus and I've noticed the poor signal in recent weeks as well. The only other time I've heard anything else on 810 was several months ago, and that was the sports station in Kansas City. They must have been going non-directional that night; I've never heard them since. It was quite a duel with WGY.

Can you get WDAK-540 from Columbus, GA? Or 610 from Niagara Falls, ON (CKTB I think are the calls), which is also the only station that streams the show?

Any other 610 would be impossible to hear here because of local WTVN. I'm a few miles east of its main lobe and about 9 miles from the tower and can hear nothing under it.
XTRA Sports, the flagship for Hendrie if you will, does stream the show free. Sort of surprising if you ask me, but I won't bite the hand that feeds me.

This same signal problem happened at the beginning of the summer as well. I have no clue what's causing it, and the last time I posted about it, no one was able to turn up any answers. I'd venture a guess that at least part of the problem is the reduced bandwidth for their IBOC stream.<P ID="signature">______________
