This week I noticed two AM stations have dead air on their frequencies. I read that WAIT 850 ceased operations after the local community college purshaed the land that the transmitter is on. However, WCKG 1530 has been off the air awhile now. 1530 was the former WJJG.
WJJG is off the air due to road construction (along I-294) damage to the ground system and resulting transmitter damage apparently from wild variations in operating impedance during construction.
