As I drove down Emory Rd yesterday I noticed that Horne Properties has a for sale sign up on the AM 850 tower site. I thought Blount Broadcasting has a lease agreement in place for that. If they do then they would be getting a new landlord, if not they better start looking for another tower site.

I wonder if anything has progressed with this matter?

On a different note, so they're now simulcasting on WLOD (1140) Loudon,TN?

The sign is still there and it mentions it can be used for multi-unit housing. So unless the new owners that get it build around the towers they will probably have to relocate them.

They have always had a simulcast of the WLOD property for what reason I do not know. It is more than 20 miles from the 850 tower site I hope they have a waiver not to have a studio in Loudon.
 
The new owners got a 5 year lease (or something in that range) on the tower site. They have to be gone by then. There is no way they will rebuild a 3 tower array. I think they can get about 1500-2000 watts daytime on a single tower with no pre-sunrise or post-sunset.

Their main studio can be anywhere within 25 miles of their city of license or within the city grade contour of any radio or TV station licensed to Loudon. They are well within 25 miles. They also need a local phone number for Loudon. Unless they have an 800 number, it used to be long distance from Loudon County to Blount County, although both could call Knox Co toll free.
 
You can get a Skype "local" number so that shouldn't be an issue..but WOW WKVL's audio is terrific..it comes in HUGE on my mega-crappy Ford Transit radio..and the audio is stellar..we are near Franklin, NC 40mi west of Asheville..and KVL comes in solid. Much better signal than last year for some reason.

I just hope that if WKVL must leave their current transmitter site that their signal won't be compromised. Out of curiosity, I wonder what they've got going for them that allows them to broadcast a quality audio signal?
