86 WLBG Laurens back on air

Running a loop of instrumental / beautiful music sounding music with just “WLBG Laurens” between the songs. The FM translator at 104.1 has been fired up as well. The AM seems to be running at very low wattage as it has static half a mile from the transmitter site.

Assuming it's back for good (or at least for a little while), the question will become whether the station returns with its previous format or if something new is in the offing. Hopefully we will know soon (and hopefully sooner than those listening to WBT-AM.)

Where's the video go?

Me thinks it just may be playing the Let's-Keep-The-License Game, but hopefully not.

Video should be available again now. Since they essentially shut down operations and dissolved the station last year, I find it coming back in its previous incarnation quite unlikely. I’m not sure if it’s been sold (nothing on the FCC), somebody’s kicking the tires, or they’re just on the air to keep the license going. My money is on the last.

Yeah, the vid is up now, but for some reasons, sounds like it plays for a second or two (some times as much as twenty), then stops abruptly. Maybe it's my connection. I'll have to check it via YT, rather than just the play button in the post. Yeah, I think the latter, as well, from this proverbial armchair.

I don't mean to overload the thread, but just saw something on a YT vid I was sent via email, which may be the issue. Wonder if the music in the vid in question, is muted, because it's not PD?

I thought it was a copyright issue, I thought maybe I fixed it, but maybe not. Here’s tonight, the theme seems to be new age/instrumental.

Yeah, that'n played fine, thanks. Oh and you've got another subscriber LOL. P.S., I still think they're keeping it on to keep the license.

At this point, you could not have possibly set the bar any lower 🤣

Still running the weird loop music. Seems to be operated by the same owners who said last year it was no longer viable to operate the station and got rid of all of the programming. Maybe they found a solution with this …

I’ll try to get another video over the weekend. Lots of flute music today.

Hmmmm, interestin'.

its called.. modulating the finals to keep the license alive. They'd gone silent 4/10/2025 for 6 months, got a 2nd 6 month extension and resumed operations 13 days ahead of the 1 year automatic license deletion rule.

They claimed in the original STA application they had someone to assign it to, but nothings materialized there

Im surprised my old stomping grounds (06-08) WABV is somehow still surviving.

Let's-Keep-The-License Game, as stated before, didn't know stations still did that.

Ah, makes sense. Doesn’t seem like it’s been that long since they went off the air.

The last time I went by the WABV studio it looked like it was going to cave in.

Doesn’t seem like WLBG has made any effort to file for another STA or an extension. Lounge/beautiful music still blasting on 860 and 104.1. Not sure what their plans are.
