86 WLBG Laurens back on air

Doesn’t seem like WLBG has made any effort to file for another STA or an extension. Lounge/beautiful music still blasting on 860 and 104.1. Not sure what their plans are.

So, what's their license status now, paperwork-wise?

All systems go, at least according to what they filed with the FCC:

"WLBG 860 Facility ID 61224 & W281BX, Facility ID: 20023, both Laurens, SC, returned to broadcast operations as of 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 28, 2026, operating at their FCC authorized parameters."

Roger on that, thanks for the info.

I don’t know why they’re on the air, or how they’re making any money, that was supposedly the reason they went off the air to begin with and they even had some advertisers then. Now it’s the non stop weird music and a legal ID. The building and land that the tower sits on is for sale. They tried to sell the license and facilities for years with no takers.

Just saw this, explains some things.
▪ Southeastern Broadcast Associates’ 860 WLBG Laurens SC (Loss of tower site)

Can confirm the land was sold for around $300k last week. Way more than the station would be worth.

Also, the STA filing mentions leasing back the tower or finding another antenna site from the owners that shut the station down, which was odd. They said they didn’t have money to run it. Where do they suddenly expect to get the money to build a new site, or pay rent on a site to run a station they couldn’t afford to run before? It wasn’t making any money before, and nothing has improved.

That seems to be happening a lot these days.

In the words of the late Brother Bill Loftis (one of my former pastors), I don't understand all I know about that.
