87.7 Cleveland's Sound

I find WLFM, even at 87.7 (vs. 87.75) more than adequate quality. Much better than compressed HD2 and HD3 signals.

I think 87.7 changed something in their audio chain over the past few days. I compared them to 'NCX and 99X in the car this weekend, and they sounded much closer to those stations processing-wise than even a few weeks ago.

I think Rocco must be earning his keep, because the sound quality has seemed to have improved considerably in recent days.

However good its sound, I would prefer this Franken-FM stop using "bloody stools" in promos. It makes me wish my radio cut off at 87.9. And these guys better wake the hell up and start streaming ASAP if they hope to have life after 2015. I welcome any new rock station to this market, but this station's roll out has been one disappointment after another.

At least Cleveland has outlets, commercial and college, for any type of Alternative Rock on the radio - 87.7, 88.7, 89.3 and 99.1. New York is losing their station (after only FOUR months) and Atlanta recently their Modern Rock and AAA outlets.

Ugh. I haven't listened enough to hear that, but are you serious? How in the hell is that inviting to anyone, especially the average AAA listener?

While we're on the subject of bodily stuff, 99X could stand to stop running their "get herpes by listening to 99X" promos.

To quote my own earlier post, "I welcome any new rock station to this market..."

Don't forget WBWC at 88.3....a college station that is actually formatted as a modern rocker.

Meanwhile I agree that the signal for 87.7 has gotten better....but are they seriously playing a promo that uses the words 'bloody stools'?? That's never a good idea. And has anyone actually heard Rachel Steele say more than a few words on the air? I usually will have them on in the car on the way home from work, and all I've ever heard her do is backsell the most recent song, then right to commercial. What's the point of her being there if all she does is ID one song? They could have probably hired the robotic chick from Mix 1065 for cheaper....

Bloody f***ing stools. The promo goes something like, "Bloody stools or 87.7... take your pick." How about neither.

Anybody ever consider that they're not really in it for the long haul, and that all 87.7 really is, is somebodies' little pet project to kinda mess around with?

Because after 2015, there won't be an anolouge TV 6 for 87.7 to piggyback from.

I think it's given that they're not looking at the long haul, as made obvious by the mess they've made of this station. The question is why would anybody want to lose money for three years? I say this because I don't think this will be even remotely successful.

What can I tell you--some people have $$ burning a hole in their pocket, and don't mind losing some to play "big time" radio station owner.

Must be nice.

Check out Channel 6, they added a bunch more to their slide show, including air staff and studio shots, as well more of Cleveland.

Do they plan on airing any TV shows on ch 6?

No.

Anything airing on TV 6 automatically is relayed over FM 87.7.

They're running this as a radio station with a TV simulcast, rather than a TV station with a radio simulcast.
