87.7 Cleveland's Sound

With the streaming finally up, I can now hear Archie for more than the 10 minutes I'm in the car. I know this has been covered, but he's unbearable. He was talking about God this morning. If I wanted to hear about God, I'd listen to one of the upteen religious stations that clog up the airwaves.

He shows no interest in the music he's playing...or should I say, the computer is playing.

Plus, even their streaming sucks. Today, only about half of the songs were identified. Since a good chunk of the music they play is relatively obscure, the online player should be useful for learning who does a certain song. But they can't even do that.

Yay! Now I can listen to Archie defending Cleveland's biggest IDIOTS in the morning (check out the outrage on the 87.7 Facebook page) followed by hours of burned out gold tracks (plus the occasional recurrent to keep fresh) from my office! I am so excited!

I didn't hear this, but a host on a secular radio station talking positively about God gets a thumbs up from me. The secular left is working overtime to erase God from any discussion in the "public square". I idisagree with them on that. The country was founded on Judeo-Christian ethics and values. As we walk away from that, which informed the Founding Fathers, it's no wonder that our society is going downhill.

So, on a Rock station, one should never talk about God, only talk about Rock music and Rock based entertainment even during a morning show where talk often takes center stage on many types of formats?

I have no problems with people talking about God.

I can't speak for other posters, but my contention was that Archie is just a bad DJ, who's been horrible from day one.

Trapper Jack on WDOK openly discusses his faith, and has done so for years. He's also an excellent morning host who's been going strong on DOK for nearly 2 decades, which was after a good run on the then WLTF Lite Rock 106 1/2.

87.7 has a new billboard out near one of the freeways with the logo on the left and the right reading "Christmas Music...No Bueno!" Very creative way to advertise the station.

How is 87.7 doing in the ratings?

Microscopic.

The bottom 5 stations listed are:

WCRF 1.5
WKHR 0.9
99X 0.7
WJMO 0.6
WKSU 0.3

So, if they show at all, 87.7 is below that.

Their ratings aren't visible, because their owner doesn't subscribe to Arbitron ratings. The only ratings you see now are for stations that pay for the Arbitron service.

WLFM does show in the Nov PPM. 12+ 0.8, up from Oct's 0.4.

Per ARB on Allaccess.com 99X's cume up to 98k since it's debut. Not too shabby for a 300w translator.

99X's couple of hundred watts is up around 700 feet, plus the tower is right smack dab in the middle of a big chunk of the metro's population (Parma and surrounding 'burbs).

Plus its actually a pretty decent modern rocker, considering its just a Clear Channel cookie cutter format. Better than any of the former 92.3 iterations in my opinion.

Where were you able to get WLFM'S rating? Every ratings website I've looked at only shows subscribing stations. WLFM doesn't show up.

And WLFM still has signal issues...sometimes nothing's going over the air, other times their signal can't break through the fuzz and interference on 87.7. OTTH, they do have a nice big billboard on 77 heading into downtown.

Their signal was surprisingly rock solid for me through the summer when I'd have expected channel 6 DX from southwestern Ontario to chew them up every once in a while. Strangely, that's exactly what happened yesterday while I was driving around.
