I noticed today that there is a station on 87.7 fm, Arlington Tx it has a tejano/regional mexican format! What is the name of this station? and who is the owner?

Channel 6? What is that? I thought I heard them say their call signs are KBFW Or maybe KVFW but I couldnt verify it!

Channel 6 TV is broadcasted on 87.7 everywhere. So if you have a channel 6 in or near your town, you can hear it on 87.7.

Sounds like KBFW-LP 6 Arlington, which has a tower in downtown Fort Worth according to FCC records.

On the Dallas side, KZFW-LP 6 Dallas, which has a tower in Cockrell Hill with a highly directional signal to northeast, runs a Spanish religious format.

This station is a Spanish Protestant Christian station not a Tejano/Norteno station. I know there is alot of people in the D/FW area who want a 24 hour Tejano radio station. But there already is a 24 hour Tejano station in D/FW & that is Tejano HD 107.9-2 FM.To get this station first of all get yourself an HD radio & then tune in. The station has a good reception in the northern & western parts of Dallas & in parts of Ft.Worth & in the Oak Cliff area. The station doesn't reach that far to the east of Dallas.Sorry, folks but 87.7 FM is not a station broadcasting Tejano music. What I do want to know is who is the owner of KFCD 990 AM & make that station Tejano for a change even if it's on the AM dial.

knon has a tejano show from 11a.m. to 1p.m. on saturdays.

No its not a Spanish Protestand Christian Station, I was listening to that station all day lond, and I could hear a Preacher in spanish but it was overlapping the music from this other station. It is almost like here in houston you could listen To radio aleluya on 88.1 and also La Radio Cristiana from Paulina bernal on the same dial.

Mrtexmex2007 I am in the D/FW area & I thought you were referring to the 87.7 FM station in Dallas that is a Spanish Protestant Christian radio station. Now for the comment that Transetic posted about KNON 89.3 FM plays Tejano on Saturdays from 11am to 1pm yes I'm aware of that but that show absolutely sucks & they're always talking they play alot OLD Tejano & mixes too. Why settle for 2 hours worth of Tejano music when you could just get an HD Radio & tune in to 107.9-2 FM in your HD Radio & listen to Tejano music old & NEW 24/7.

Transetic, who cares about KNON 89.3 FM playing Tejano on Saturdays from 11am to 1pm. Their show absolutely sucks & they talk alot they also play alot of OLD Tejano music & too many Tejano mixes. Why settle for 2 hours worth of Tejano when you could get it 24/7 with an HD Radio. I also know KNTU 88.1 FM plays Tejano & they have been doing it for many, many years & they play alot new & old Tejano and I give them props for that but they also talk alot there & they play mixes once in a while. Again why listen to these guys guys on 88.1 FM from 6am to 12 noon on Saturdays & only get 6 hours worth & when you could listen to it on HD 24/7. I really want people to understand that here in D/FW Tejano will never be back in a regular normal frequency on FM due to there's no $$$ to be made in FM especially if all Spanish radio in Dallas in corporate owned.Tejano survival in D/FW might be better yet in the AM dial but then again no one wants to take any gambles on that. Tejano just like the Jazz music format survives in HD Radio. Support all your HD Radio stations especially Tejano HD 107.9-2 FM & The Oasis Smooth Jazz 107.5-2 FM.

I've heard The Tejano Show on KNON.....alot of mixes and hip hop stuff.......No Thanks....KNTU has a show from 6 AM till Noon on Saturdays also.alot better....they do have alot of Public Service Announcements.i did call in when Johnny Ramirez said to call and let them know, how they were doing and where we are calling in from.i hope they got alot of response or they might pull the plug.

I remember when KNTU also used to be a radio station, ran by students, programmed by students, playing what students wanted to hear and the majority were hired by the big boys . Yep, it wa a radio station in its day,and now its just taling up a space on the dial. Common for most alleged stations.

Radio TV students

I was a Radio-TV student at UTA, and about 10% of the students actually wound up working in Radio or TV. But of the ones that did, some of them did pretty well.

KNTU "THEN" had a 70% hire rate (1976-1980) then the yturned it over (practically) to the School of Music.Which on the surface was a good idea since UNT is the home of the famed one o'clock lab band". It turned out to be a dismal failure,as listenership went south, hirings reduced to a trickle except in sports and some news. Then when the telecom act came into view the student managers were replaced by
hired faculty, and recently actual student on air participation has been reduced. In sports for example Bill Mercer legendary broadcaster and founder of KNTU retired, mainly because he "wasn't allowed to teach hands on experience". There goes the future of radio.
