87.7 Holding Auditions?

I'm willing to bet that none of the auditioners will get a prime, daytime slot.

Maybe some morning show contributors. Maybe late nights or weekends.

I had a friend of mine call me last night to tell me about the audition. All he knew was that there was a new radio station coming to town. The "on the street" word must have got out.

Just saw them mention in one of the comments on their FB page that 87.7 will be on the air in the end of August.

I guess with the PD gone and still sorting out the staff, including on-air, they needed more time to get things up and going.

As noted in our item today, AM drive will be Archie Berwick, and PM drive will be ex-"K-Rock" staffer Rachel Steele.

Archie who???? Ex-CBS Cleveland promotions staffer. Not sure if he's ever been on the air.

The quickest way to get hired at 87.7 is apparently a past work association with Chris Maduri...

So much for those who auditioned who wanted mornings. I think Archie interned at Q104 years ago. Do you know who is taking over the PD stripes?

Have not heard a new PD named yet.

As in the item today, things seem to be coming together, but they need a few weeks to get this going full-time.

I think it's better to launch when everything is ready as opposed to early when they would continue to work out kinks.

Didn't 107.3 launch their AAA format a week before it was supposed to flip in '09/'10? Speaking of V, I wouldn't be surprised if anyone from that station was not involved with 87.7. I'm hoping the music mix and jock lineup will turn out better than V.

Not hearing about any former V folk in the 87.7 mix, at least yet.

Don't forget about the "entertainment talk" aspect of their plans. I haven't heard of any staffers, yet, that would fit that bill.

How about - and anyone can chime in - John Gorman as PD? Maybe he can help make the station work. Who knows? That could be wishful thinking.

Not happening. I'd put it between "unlikely" and "no way in hell" on the possibility rank.

It would be better than whoever decided upon a talk-based AAA format. I don't see this getting too many listeners outside of the hipsters in University Circle and Tremont.

Scene reported on Archie being the new morning host, days after OMW and this board mention his name attached.

The guys running the station should know how to make the station a success since they've had experience. Just hope all the hires aren't connected to Chris Maduri. He may as well have EVERY role involved.

V 107.3 was a failure why would you want anyone associated with that station? Gorman as PD? Doubtful that he wants that much stress in his life now.

I never said I wanted anyone from 107.3 associated with 87.7. I said I wouldn't be surprised if anyone from V would be on the new station. In other words, it would be a shock if someone from the station popped up at a new operation with a format that was used to disappointing results.

Plus, I knew it was not likely Gorman would be PD. I just posed that question to OMW to get his thoughts if such a thing was to happen.

:D Armchair quarterbacks, all of you.

Try launching a new station in this economy with no money...

Those of you who like to rewrite history, the truth will set you free.

Haters gonna hate......

87.7 Good Luck, you're gonna need it.
