87.7 MHz Analogue TV (Canadian)

Analogue TV is not quite dead yet. With Global TV having gone digital, 87.7 is now usually white noise...but, not always.

I've been detecting audio during my drives, here across rural eastern Ontario. The programming is from CTV, likely Ottawa, because I heard CTV Ottawa personality, J.J. Clark, do a voice over, regarding the closed captioning portion of the program, which was also an Ottawa based sponsor.

I went poking around, looking for local CTV repeaters operating on Channel 6 and Desoronto (located between Napanee and Belleville) appears to be the source.

Happy hunting!

Rural markets are exempt from the DTV switch in Canada, for now. The CJOH translator on 6 in Deseronto is still on as well as the one on 8 in Cornwall. Which means I can still get a semi-local signal on 87.7. The cable company here is still relaying the analog signal from CJOH-6 and up in Massena (the US side of Cornwall) they are still relaying CJOH-8 but are now pulling in CBC digitally from Ottawa.
