87.7 mystery station

I noticed Long Island stations WPPB and WEHM booming into Meriden tonight, so I did a quick run through the rest of the band on the car radio to see if anything unusual was coming in. Shortly before midnight I heard talk and advertising in an Asian language weakly on 87.7 MHz. It didn't sound like Chinese, Korean or Japanese, so I have the feeling it was southeast Asian, most likely Vietnamese. I couldn't get anything close to an ID and the signal faded into the mush within 10 minutes. Possible pirate, or could there be a low-power analog TV Channel 6 down toward LI or NYC that I was picking up?

87.7 is WNYZ-LP out of NYC. It's one of those LPTV Channel 6 operating as a radio station. At one time is was doing Dance as Pulse 87. After that LMA ended due to financial problems JVC Broadcasting out of Long Island LMA'd the station to simulcast PARTY 105.3 WPTY. That didn't last very long and soon they went back to foreign language programming. Since 2010 they've been simulcasting Radio Korea WWRU 1660 AM.
