87.9 and the F bomb

I was driving west on 183 near the south entrance to DFW Airport Wednesday night and as I was scanning the dial it stopped on 87.9 and there was a guy letting the F bomb fly all over the place. It sounded like Stern but I don't know how that would be possible unless there is a pirate replaying his Sirius show on FM. Is there any known pirate activity near Euless? It quickly faded after a few miles. Any ideas radi0chik??

I'd bet money you were driving along the freeway with a vehicle who had a FM modulator for his/her Sirius radio. I bet if you drive by there again you won't hear it

I have XM but it wasn't on and H is on Sirius...

What you are likely hearing, as RC pointed out, was one of those sat radio transmitters for FM. It's a small transmitter that takes a sat radio feed, and broadcasts it to an empty spot on the FM dial. If you happen to be driving close to another car that has one of those things in use, you'll hear the transmission.

I'm not talking about your car; go drive along any freeway, particularly in rush hour, and listen, you'll hear all sorts of signals fade in and out on that frequency. Someone else driving nearby you probably had Sirius and was listening to him. Their car modulator was strong enough that your radio picked it up and stopped on it. If you drive back by again and hear it again, then it's worth looking into.

I was thinking the pirate station but the F bomb would have been in Spanish. So that's not it.
