87.9 pirate increases its power

nd2023

Banned
Since the middle of this week, I have been able to receive the 87.9 pirate 50 miles southwest of Newark, stronger than Pulse 87. I was also able to receive it on the west side of Manhattan with little interference from Pulse 87, as well as on the Belt Parkway in Nassau county in the past. When it transmits overmodulated programming, such as that idiot yelling into the mic in French, it bleeds over to 87.7 in most areas within 20 miles of Newark, and 87.6 near Newark. I am mad and I am not going to take it anymore.
Since the FCC doesn't want to shut it down, I want to shut that piece of crap down personally. I'm going to locate the building it transmits from, and inform the building management about the illegal radio station. Then I will call the police and report a crime in progress. I also will call the FCC every day till it shuts down. I also want to fly a tinfoil coated kite into the antenna in order to increase the SWR to the point that the transmitter explodes, with the power it's running, it won't take much of an SWR increase to do that.

It's ridiculous stations like 87.9 and Streetz 96 stay on for years and bleed through legal channels. Let's say a dance station was pirated from Newark, they wont have a problem shutting them down, but can't do anything about 87.9. Hey, maybe their transmitter is on top of a power pole like Roadblock Radio's transmitter was

Its signal is too good to be on a power pole. My college station is 100 watts at 250 feet, and this pirate has a better signal. It goes as far as a class A.

This is bs...Now I can hear 87.9 all the way as far west as Mount Olive. pulse now comes in sloppy in the Montclair area because of this pirate.

This guy has random callers calling the station at night like today. During the morning and afternoons, there is caribbean music being played.

Quoting from Neo11

It's probably Creole, which sounds similar to French.

It's a Caribbean Formatted station. It doesn't just play Creole...It's also Kompa Direkt from Haiti.

LOL-let me know how THAT tuns out. I'm sure the local cops don't have enough to do in that jurisdiction.

Why not graphite strips dropped from a rented helicopter?

Do us a favor though: If you do nail down the coordinates, feel free to publish here.

In the meantime, why not keep calling and emailing the FCC? It worked here to get rid of 'Stone' Michael here in Philly, though it did take a while.

I think you may do better to contact the Essex County Sheriff's office rather than the cops. Be sure to cite chapter-and-verse.
