87.9 The Wave Website

There is a new website for 87.9 The Wave which i created in my spare time for the owner of the station. The new website allows you to listen live in high quality (128kbps) stereo sound. The webpage is still under construction and we will be adding more stuff to it soon. The website is www.879thewave.webs.com

Nice tower!

Anyone check out the internet stream. The quality is amazing there is a little bit of hum in the left channel but it is being worked on. The playlist is awesome as well. I've heard so many songs today that made me say oh wow.

That tower is commonly used for Ham radio users and operators but it was converted for FM use. There have been other stations that have used the same type of tower (Usually 100 Watt LP's. I Think Leo 103 In Derry, NH Does.)

You are correct sir! This looks like Rohn-25 and the commercial version is Rohn-45.

Just to let everyone know if you were wondering this since there has been alot of emails: All the adds run on The Wave are run for free not for money. There is no money intake whatsoever. The Wave is on the air to entertain.

What's funny to me, is I live in Haverhill (on the Bradford side of the river) and I can't seem to get the station at all. Isn't this station up here in my neck of the woods somewhere? Right in front of my house - nothing but hash. Doing some test listening last night while doing some errands and it's spotty at best in and outside of downtown Haverhill as well. When I could catch it (in the Haverhill Library parking lot) the air chain sounded flat and at best the signal was about 50%. Not knocking the operation...just wondering.

(Neat studio shots tho!)

The Transmitter Blew Up So While It Is Getting Fixed They Are Running At Low Power. In The Mean Time You Can Listen Online (www.879thewave.webs.com). Also The Owner Is Aware That There Are Some Problems With The Audio And They Are Being Worked On. Thanks For Listening!!! :)

Also A Question For Wave Listeners: What Kind Of Music Should Be Played On The Wave Starting In December. Should It Go All Christmas Or Stay How It Is Now (A Mix Of Oldies With Christmas Songs Thrown In Here And There.)

Can you guys play any freestyle music at all? Freestyle was BIG back in the late 80's and early 90's.

You can hear 87.9 in Nantucket???

I've occasionally picked you guys up here. WFHL in New Bedford splatters your signal around, but I have gotten it. I was using my Ford Ranger radio that they put in at the factory.

I don't know how many watts they are operating with but certainly not enough to reach all the way down to New Bedford. Thats impressive maybe troopo could have had something to do with it? I have picked up Boston pirates way out of range before due to troopo. Either that or you have some kind of super radio.

It should go all christmas :D (personal opinion)

Also, speaking of tropo, almost every time I go to North Andover WCOD and Touch FM seem to be battling for 106.1.
